Pan American Round Table of Laredo
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION / INFORMATION
The Pan American Round Table of Laredo Scholarship is awarded annually for the purpose of assisting a student in pursuing college-level studies at either Texas A&M International University or Laredo College.
A. The applicant must be a student citizen of the United States or countries which are members of the Organization of American States (OAS). The applicant must show an interest in fostering mutual understanding among these countries in the areas of history, culture, language, government, business, education, and /or the arts. Consideration will be given to relatives of a member of the Pan American Round Table of Laredo.
B. The applicant shall be enrolled at Texas A&M International University of Laredo or Laredo College during the upcoming academic year.
C. Scholarship applications for Texas A&M International University and Laredo College will be awarded on alternate years.
D. The applicant must enroll in a minimum of twelve (12) college hours. If the applicant is a currently enrolled student, she must possess a 2.75 grade point average (GPA) or better on a four-point scale.
A. The Pan American Round Table of Laredo Scholarship is a grant for one year of study, payable directly to the academic institution the student is attending. The grant amount is determined by the Table on an annual basis and may be paid in installments of one per academic year, one-half per semester, or one-third per trimester, depending on the calendar at the academic institution of the recipient.
B. At the beginning of each term (semester or trimester), the appropriate sum due to the recipient will be deposited with the proper school authority, who, acting as trustee for the PART of Laredo, will pay the Scholarship recipient.
C. Should the scholarship be awarded across 2 semesters, and if the recipient fails to enroll in any term of the year for which the scholarship was granted, the sum of money will be held in trust by the school until a candidate is selected. The institution will notify the Pan American Round Table of Laredo in the event this occurs.
D. The recipient is responsible for maintaining a 2.75 grade point average or better on a four-point scale and sending to the financial aid officer of the appropriate institution, verification of each term’s grades, if the scholarship is awarded for more than one semester.
E. The recipient will be invited to participate in one of the Pan American Round Table of Laredo regular meetings during the school year for which the scholarship was awarded.
F. Notification of award will be made to the PART of Laredo Scholarship Committee by late Spring of the current scholastic year.
